What Is The Paleo Diet?

The Paleo Diet, which is gaining more momentum and followers every day, is based on the diet (not meaning weight loss) that our ancestors ate during the Palaeolithic era, which was more than some 20,000 years ago.
You see, they didn’t have all the highly processed, preserved or Genetically modified foods you find in the supermarket today.
They only had what was available to them, the foods that unspoiled nature provided.
Foods that were available to hunt and gather – game meat, fish, poultry, fresh vegetables and fruits, nuts etc.
All of these foods were in their natural state.
You see, the human body was never designed to eat the foods that are so readily available today and this modification has gone ahead so fast that our bodies, in evolutionary terms, have not been able to keep up with.
It makes sense that we return to eating these beautiful tasting natural foods rather than subject our bodies to “supermarket suicide” by eating foods that are highly processed, preserved and infused with so many additives that our digestive system can simply not cope with.
There is, no doubt, many foods that were available in that era that are not around today, likewise we have many types of meat, vegetables, fruits and nuts that were not around in that era, but as long as they are not processed we can easily incorporate them into the Paleo Diet.
Major benefits of eating this way are

· Less likelihood of developing diabetes
· Heart disease is greatly reduced
· Natural weight loss as a result of eating natural sugars instead of refined sweeteners
· Almost no allergic reactions because there are no preservatives and additives

The variety of foods in the Paleo Diet is endless. It does not have to be boring or hard to adhere to! No problems with entertaining at home and your friends will appreciate the wonderful flavours of natural foods
Your whole family will benefit from taking a look at the Paleo Diet.
There are many free recipes and wonderful books available to get you on the path to healthy eating.

The Paleo Power Lunch by Stormy Sweitzer

Paleo Power Lunch is not just another recipe book. It includes strategies for eating better, ideas for shopping creatively and efficiently, tips for storing and packing ingredients and lunches, and a system for preparing great lunches using recipes in the book or the ingredients you have on hand.
Each chapter in this book reflects a step in making a Paleo Power Lunch:
  • Plan for the week and shop for what you need
  • Prepare cooked and fresh ingredients
  • Make dressing in advance
  • Create powerful lunch combinations
  • Pack your lunch and the snacks you will need to face the day
And, the bonus materials that come with the book offer how-to’s, meal formulas, and recipe ideas that help readers avoid boredom, save time, and eat well throughout the week.

Paleo Power Lunch addresses the following needs:

  • It’s practical.  The Paleo Power™ Lunch book is not your average cookbook. It is packed with easy, filling and delicious workday meal recipes, yes, but also strategies and food preparation tips to help you quickly pack your lunch and snacks for the day without sacrificing flavor.
  • It can save you money. You could keep buying take-out, drive-through, or wilted grocery store fare but why not learn the art of packing your own lunch instead? Not only will you get to choose what goes into your meal, you have control over what you spend.
  • It will save you time. If your reason for not taking your lunch with you is that it takes too long to make, the solution is here. Paleo Power™ Lunch is filled with suggestions and planning tips to help you shop, prep, and pack your lunch more efficiently.
  • It’s all about real food. Whether you are a committed Paleo eater or just looking for ways to eat more healthy, whole foods, this ebook will help you eat well while away from home – no grains, no legumes, no dairy…just deliciousness

Will Paleo Power Lunch be helpful even if I don’t consider myself Paleo?

Absolutely – and that’s what makes Paleo Power Lunch such a great resource.  Whether you have food allergies that prevent you from eating gluten and dairy, you are trying to eat more whole foods and less processed foods, you have an interest in how to pack healthy lunches, or you are just dipping your toes in the Paleo diet waters, this book can help.
If you are not familiar with it, the Paleo diet consists primarily of meat – preferably grass-fed beef, lamb and pork, free range poultry, eggs, wild game, fish and other seafood, as well as vegetables, fruit, seeds, and nuts. It emphasizes high-quality nutrients, healthy proteins, complex carbohydrates, and good fats. Think of it as real food that comes from as close to the source as possible.
The diet, and Paleo Power Lunches, exclude cereal grains and grain-like seeds (e.g., buckwheat, amaranth, quinoa), legumes (beans, lentils, chickpeas, green peas, peanuts, etc.), dairy products, salt, refined sugar and sweets, and unhealthy cooking oils, as well as processed meats.
So, what you get is great-tasting, great-for you, real food.
